as seen in "Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese" Raw videotape edited in the camera, including "bicentennial hats," Uncle Sam, Cuban dance performance recorded in one nonstop-moving-handheld-camera three-and-a-half-minute-long take. A quintessential video diary of an amazing historic day that builds from a cat's morning stretch in a quiet downtown loft until the camera is in the midst of the surging bicentennial celebration crowds. The subtexts are about video & TV during those pre-digital days, the ethics of recording people on the street, "independence," and observing lower Manhattan when it was a residential frontier. Recorded on one half-hour half-inch reel-to-reel videotape on an early video recorder, with a separate camera and mic, and one-person crew, Skip Blumberg, of the early production group Videofreex. Features Jon Alpert, Keiko Tsuno, & the DCTV crew, and Tom Weinberg, Jane Aaron, & Alice Wexler on-screen co-conspirators. Originally cablecast on "The Five Day Bicycle Race," five 3-hour TV shows covering 1976 National Democratic Presidential Convention in NYC, produced by Image Union / Videofreex. Restoration with thanks to Maurice Schechter, Martin Scorsese & Bob Dylan! With informational titles added. © 1976/2019 IMP, Inc.
